Musicians in period costumes, a superb dinner inspired by 18th Century recipes, a unique, historic atmosphere - the oldest restaurant in Europe!

The ‘Amadeus Consort’ performs arias, duets and overtures from ‘Don Giovanni’, ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ and ‘The Magic Flute’, as well as a rendition of ‘Eine Kleine Nachtmusik’.

‘Amadeus Consort’

The Amadeus Consort consists of two opera singers (soprano and baritone) and five strings (2 violins, viola, violoncello and double bass). The members of the ensemble are graduated musicians and studied at different music universities, most of them at the famous Salzburg music university "Mozarteum". Former members of the ensemble are performing nowadays at famous opera houses or well known festivals all over the world. In big formation the Amadeus Consort performs as AMADEUS ORCHESTRA SALZBURG.

Besides the performances in Salzburg, the ensemble has given concerts in most European countries, in the USA, South America, Asia and has appeared in many TV productions.

Dinner

Mozart makes uncountable references in his letters and operas to culinary delights. Good reason for to marry his divine music with a candlelight dinner, prepared according to 18^th century recipes.
The single courses are served during the concert intermissions.

Oldest Restaurant in Europe

The Mozart Dinner Concert takes place in a unique, historic atmosphere. The Baroque Hall of Stiftskeller St. Peter is part of the famous Benedictine monastery and is situated in the oldest part of Salzburg.

Stiftskeller St. Peter is the oldest restaurant in Europe. It was first mentioned in 803 on occasion of Charlemagne´s visit.

The Mozart family had also dinner there: "Nannerl" Mozart wrote in her diary in October 1783:

“papa and henry had lunch at st peter.
made music ... rained heavily“.

In 1789 in the church of St. Peter monastery Mozart´s c-minor-mass (KV 427) was performed for the first time. His wife Constanze sang one of the sopran solo parts.
