Enrico di Borgogna is a melodramma in two acts with a libretto by Bartolomeo Merelli, based on August von Kotzebue’s drama Der Graf von Burgund.
The opera tells the story of Enrico, the rightful heir to the throne, who was saved as a child by the loyal Pietro and raised in disguise as a shepherd. He falls in love with Elisa, who is promised to Guido, the young king who has taken power. The story leads to the restoration of Enrico’s rightful position and the triumph of order.
