L’elisir d’amore at Teatro Malibran
L’elisir d’amore by Gaetano Donizetti will be performed at Teatro Malibran in Venice in August and September 2026.
One of Donizetti’s most beloved comic operas, L’elisir d’amore tells the story of Nemorino, a shy young man hopelessly in love with Adina. Hoping to win her heart, he buys a supposed love potion from the travelling doctor Dulcamara.
First performed in Milan in 1832, the opera is admired for its charm, melodic beauty and famous tenor aria Una furtiva lagrima.
